OSUN STATE CHAPTER
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS
These set of rules and regulations are to guide the schools while planning for these events. It is also to serve as tools for organizers during the course of the events.
Please note: Attendance Registration will commence by 8:00AM and end by 9:00AM at each venue of the competition. Competition proper will commence by 9:00:AM In Sha Allah.
A pupil/student shall be permitted to represent his/her school in ONLY ONE EVENT at the competition.
Not more than one teacher only from a school is to accompany their pupils at the primary level to the local and state final competition.
Only one teacher is allowed to accompany the students of the JSS and SSS to the state final competition.
All events shall take place simultaneously at each venue of the competition.
Schools are allowed to present only pupils/students who are currently in their school at the time of this competition as any impersonation will lead to total disqualification.
Schools must submit the list of their contestants in all events to the officials with their Registration form i.e on or before the close of registration.
No contestant shall have a right to demand for substitution of question at any event.
Any school official who acts in any way that is tantamount to cheating or act against the collective interest of the competition shall be himself/herself and his/her school penalized by the organizers.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
Each local Government chapter will pay a registration fee of N15,000 as a pre-condition to allow members of the local government take part in the competition. However, every Local Government must pay, either participating or not participating in the competition.
The local government must have at least 10 primary schools to be qualified to hold the competition.
A local government must present at least 5 schools at Junior Secondary Category and 4 Schools at Senior Secondary Category to be able to hold competition at these levels
Otherwise the local government would be allowed to present her schools under the banner of another local government that can accommodate her
The payment of Local Government/schools registration fees closes by First Friday,9th Jan, 2026
Each intending school must pay N10,000 competition registration fee per category.
NO late registration shall be entertained.

PROGRAM EXECUTION
The Local Government chapters would be responsible for financing and organizing the competition at the local levels.
The Local Government chapter will set up and finance a 3-man local ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
A total of 50% (N5,000) of the total REGISTRATION FEES shall be kept by the local chapter while 50%(N5,000) shall be remitted to the state.
Welfare
The following must be observed as part of welfare package of the competition by the Local Government Chapters
Each school that participated must be given certificate of participation by the Local Government.
Tangible gift must be given to the schools that came 1st , 2nd & 3rd in each event.
Delegates and officials must be well fed at the Competition.
The state officials must be adequately taken care of DATES OF COMPETITION
The local government competition will come up between 24th, 25th and 31st; JANUARY 2026 and 1st, 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th of FEBRUARY 2026 and 28th and 29th of MARCH 2026. Out of which all local government areas ( LOCAL COORDINATORS) are expected to choose date (on/before 9th JANUARY, 2026) and forward the chosen date to the central committee for affirmation and certification.
The state final competition will come up on 13th JUNE 2026, IN SHA ALLAH
NOTE: Only Schools that emerge 1st, 2nd and or 3rd categories will qualify to participate in the state final competition
CATEGORY EVENT
Primary: Qur’an, Quiz, Khutbat, Science/Art Exhibition, Yorùbá
Junior Secondary School: Qur’an, Quiz, Pick & Talk, Creative Writing, Calligraphy
Senior Secondary School: Qur’an, Quiz, Debate, Essay Writing, Science/Art Exhibition,
NOTE : Kindly note that the representative for CALLIGRAPHY could be from JSS or SSS BUT not from BOTH
PRIMARY CATEGORY
1. QUR’AN RECITATION
Only one competitor will be allowed to represent each school. The pupil would be tested in his/her ability to read from memory any portion of JUZ’U AMMA. A maximum of 5 minutes would be allowed for each competitor.
CRITERIA FOR ASSESSMENT
The contestant will pick his/her questions through balloting ( that is from a box which must have been folded)
Hifzu 60%
Sequential 20%
Voice quality: 10%
Appearance: 10%
Note: The contestants shall not be asked any question on TAJWEED
2. QUIZ
Each school must present two competitors
Subject: (a) English (b) Math(c)Islamic Studies (d)Yoruba (e) Arabic (f) General paper (Basic science, Basic tech, Computer, civics, social studies, current affairs and security education).
At least 2 rounds per subject would be observed.
A maximum time of 40seconds will be allowed for each mathematics question and 15 seconds for other subjects.
Competitors will have right to choose any question they wish to answer.
A correct answer will attract 2 points (Marks).
Competitors from a school may confer with each other during the course of the event
There shall be no bonus mark.
Competitors from a school shall not be allowed more than two opportunities to answer a question
3. KHUTBA
• Only one participant will represent a school. He must present his Khutbat in Arabic and then translate it to English in not than 10 minutes

5. YORÙBÁ READING
Only one participant will be allowed in this exercise. A prepared passage will be offer to him/her to read

Articulation : 15%
JUNIOR SECONDARY CATEGORY
1.QUIZ: as applied in Primary Category rules above
2. QUR’AN RECITATION
Only one competitor will represent each school. The student’s ability to recite from memory with tajweed any portion from JUZ’U TABARAK to Naas will be tested. A maximum time of 5 minutes would be allowed.

Hifzu 60%
Sequential (Articulation of letters): 20%
Appearance 5%
Voice Quality 10%
Tajweed 5% ( only one question)
3. PICK AND TALK
Only one competitor will represent each school. Each competitor shall pick a topic through balloting process open it and makes his/her presentation within a maximum period of 5minutes
CRITERIA FOR ASSESSMENT
Introduction 10 points
Body language and eye contact 10 points
• Grammatical expression 25 points
• Clear audible speech 10 points
• Relevance to the topic 25 points
• Presentation 10 points
• Conclusion 10 points
NOTE: Judges are to carry out their assessment independently. After which average of the result are to be sought for the final grade
4. CREATIVE WRITING
Each candidate shall be given an identity number at the centre
The competitors will be given a topic to test their ability on how well they can write
The competitors will be expected to write about 250-300 words over a maximum period of 50minutes
Competitors will not be allowed to write his/her name or name of school on the scripts as any candidate who does this will be disqualified.

Correct spelling, punctuation and paragraphing
Good command of English
How interesting and intelligent the write up is

SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL CATEGORY
1. QUIZ
The rules are as applicable in primary category except that 50 seconds will be allowed to answer
Mathematics questions
2. QUR’AN
Only one competitor will be allowed and he/she will be tested from JUZ’U MUJADALAH to SURATUN-NAAS. The criteria for assessment is as follows :
Hifzu 60%
Sequential 20%
Appearance 5%
Voice Quality 10%
Tajweed 5% (only one will be asked)
3. ESSAY COMPETITION
One competitor will represent each school, each candidate shall be given an identity number at the centre. Competitor will not be allowed to write his/her name nor name of school on the scripts. The competitors would be given a topic to test their ability on how well they can write. The competitors would be expected to write about 350-400 words over a maximum period of 1:hour

4. DEBATE
Each school must present two participants. Any school that presents only one participant will not be allowed to participate. Debate topic will be given to competitors 20 minutes before the commencement of the debate. This is to allow the competitors to think on what points to raise and how to present them. There will be a draw for who is to support or oppose the motion.
CONDITION
There must be two speakers on each side
The first speaker from each side will speak for 5minutes, one after the other, then the second speakers will speak one after the other for 3minutes

Body language and eye contact 10 points
Grammatical expression 25 points
Clear audible speech 10 points
Relevance to the topic 25 points

NOTE: Judges are to carry out their assessment independently. And the average scores will be used to determine the final result
PENALTIES
A speaker who speaks for more than 15seconds after the bell (i.e beyond the time) will lose 2 points
Any speaker who shows aggression or rudeness towards his/her opponent or any official will lose 3points
5. CALIGRAPHY
One participant shall represent from each school. The participant will be given a word or group of words in Arabic to be written within a period of 40minutes
NOTE : It is allowed to present either JSS or SSS student BUT not from both
